The sweet life.

We are a family farm built on family values located in California’s Central Valley. Our onion business started with one field of yellow onions more than 30 years ago, and today, with many more fields, we produce nearly 5 million packages of onions per year of both conventional and organic yellow, red, white and sweet onions.

We have 3 generations of Dalenas working in our company who tend to every aspect of the farming process from planting, growing, harvesting, packing and shipping. We also think it is essential to give back to the areas in which we operate so we are pleased to employ over 500 people from our local communities during our onion harvesting and packing season.

Our growing season begins in the fall each year as we start the planting process and continue planting until late spring. We carefully choose varieties that are best suited for our area that will produce the most delicious, tastiest onions.

As a family-operated farm, we are stewards of the land and we are very conscious about social responsibility and sustainable farming. We use farming practices, like crop rotation and growing cover crops, to replenish the ground with nutrients. Our team plays an integral part in water conservation in our industry.

We have established a water management plan that includes reservoirs, several wells, a recharge program and a drip irrigation system in which we are able to efficiently irrigate our crops while helping to replenish the aquifer.

We incorporate food grade nutrients that are applied during the growing phase that are highly available to the plant which eliminates wasteful applications and makes for an extremely healthy finished product to the consumer.

We focus on growing several different varieties that are less susceptible to disease and reduce the amount of plant protection products being used. All of our onions are sampled and tested for pathogens and pesticide residue before harvesting.
